From Guest Greeting to Fond Farewell: Mastering Restaurant Operations

The program delves into the key aspects of exceptional food and beverage service:

  • Restaurant Operations & Menu Knowledge: Gain a comprehensive understanding of restaurant operations, from table management and service sequencing to proper menu knowledge. Learn about different menu types, food descriptions, and how to answer customer questions about ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Food Preparation Basics: Develop basic food preparation skills to understand the kitchen’s operations better. Learn about common cooking methods, food handling procedures, and plate presentation techniques that enhance the visual appeal of dishes.
  • Exceptional Service Etiquette & Guest Interaction: Master the art of providing exceptional customer service. Learn proper greeting techniques, active listening skills, effective communication to address guest needs, and resolving issues politely and professionally. Fine-tune table etiquette and serving procedures to ensure a smooth and enjoyable dining experience for all.
  • Beverage Service & Knowledge (Optional): Gain foundational knowledge of beverages, including non-alcoholic and alcoholic options (if permitted by legal drinking age). Learn about different beverage types, service techniques, and proper handling procedures to complement the food menu. (In some cases, this section can be complemented by taking Viast College’s Bartending program for a more in-depth knowledge of cocktails and mixology).

Industry Certifications: Prepare for industry-recognized certifications in food and beverage service, enhancing your resume and employability
